Friday Night Service

Friday night at the bimah with Dan

There’s never a Bat Mitzvah without a Friday night service! This is a congregational service specifically for Shabbat. Because my Bat Mitzvah was the following morning, I was honored as I was brought up to the bimah with my family to read the blessing over the wine (and taste the grape juice!).

This Shabbat Service was different from all others, because it was also in honor of the Temple Judea Museum's Grand Opening of a Jewish music themed exhibit. Due to that, the synagogue's choir sang lovely Hebrew songs throughout the service. Also a music professor who was a graduate of Yale and Harvard gave a very interesting speech that included a plethoria : ) of big words, enthusiasm, and a very factual emphasis. I enjoyed it very much and hope to have it as a memory for many years to come!
