As we are coming to an end to the service I could not bear to leave without saying a few thank yous.
Now, I know that everyone says the same things, my parents and my brother or sister were always there for me blah blah blah. But when I say that my mother, father, and brother helped me, I say it with heart. If not for them, I would not be here, on the bimah, in front of you. I’d probably be at home saying I couldn’t do it.
I am very grateful to have them with me, though still, there are others I need to thank: my Uncle Richie who motivated me to translate and get a better understanding of the Torah portion, my Uncle Elliot who informed me, by chanting, that he read the same exact portion at his Bar Mitzvah, and inspired me to try and sing it better then him, and my friends. I have no idea how I would have been without you guys. Also the synagogue, including Michael, my tutor, who has led me in who knows what in learning this material. As well as my Cantor, who has patiently waited for me to perfect what I am doing now.
So even though you think you’re getting a treat from coming to my Bat Mitzvah and party, I’d really like to thank you for contributing to the magnitude of this event.
